Individual Therapy in London & Online

FREQUENCY — Biweekly / Weekly

FORMAT — Face-to-Face / Online

Making that first step to seek help, and to share your thoughts and feelings with another person, is a brave and responsible act. It is also a positive move towards easing the wobbles, struggles and conflicts you may be having, and towards a life more in line with your needs and intentions.

Individual psychodynamic therapy is a talking therapy with roots in psychoanalysis. It helps you understand your relationship to yourself, your history and the people around you, by bringing patterns that sit outside everyday awareness into view, where they can be thought about and changed.

• cross-cultural experiences and migration

Dr Sabah Khan

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and HCPC registered, with a doctorate in clinical psychology from UCL and over 15 years' experience, much of it in the NHS.

My approach is psychoanalytic: I consider that unconscious processes play an important part in how we experience ourselves and our relationships. I am also trained in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and systemic family therapy, so my work is integrative, and I adapt it to what you need.

I build a carefully set-up, secure therapeutic relationship and pay close attention to different emotional states of mind. Regular sessions at a consistent time make this possible.

How I work

What to expect

Initial consultation. A 50-minute meeting, usually online, to talk about what is troubling you now, how you got there, and whether we can work together.

Regular sessions. 50 minutes, weekly or fortnightly. I offer both brief, focused work and open-ended, longer-term therapy, and we decide together which suits you.

Common benefits

  • Greater self-awareness, helping you cope with everyday challenges

  • A deeper understanding of how your past and earlier relationships affect you now, so you feel less stuck

  • Stronger, more meaningful relationships with the people in your life.
