Reiki Clinic

Reiki is a Japanese healing practice which uses techniques to channel universal life force energy to balance any instability within the body’s energy field. The treatment works on restoring an alignment to the energetic flow within the body’s chakra system, which may have become out of kilter as a result of physical, emotional and psychological symptoms. Reiki relieves the energy blockages caused by these symptoms and serves to reconnect your body to its inherent ability to heal itself and seek homeostasis.

Each and every being has an innate ability to heal as a gift from the gods
— Mikao Usui

Usui Reiki was developed in Japan in the early twentieth century by Mikao Usui, a Buddhist monk and spiritual teacher. After years of meditation and study, Usui experienced a profound spiritual awakening on Mount Kurama, from which the Reiki healing system emerged. He went on to teach the practice widely, and it was later brought to the West where it has become one of the most widely practised forms of energy healing in the world.

The word Reiki is formed from two Japanese words — rei, meaning universal, and ki, meaning life force energy. It is this same concept of life force energy that underpins many Eastern healing traditions, including acupuncture, qigong, and Ayurveda.

As a certified Usui Reiki Master trained through The Reiki Academy, I hold the highest level of Reiki attunement. This means I am able to both practise and teach Reiki, and to work at a depth that supports lasting energetic change rather than surface-level relaxation alone.

Reiki FAQs

  • There are no contraindications for a Reiki treatment and therefore, it is suitable for everyone including pregnant women, children and babies.

  • During a reiki treatment, you will lie fully clothed on a therapy couch whilst I place my hands above or on, key energy centres along the body called Chakras. By the end of the treatment, you can expect to feel relaxed, calm and centred. As I also offer feedback based on my experience as a clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist, you will receive relevant guidance on ways in which you can further help yourself.

  • Reiki can have an intensive impact over 4-6 sessions and more may be required for chronic issues. We can decide on the number of sessions and the intervals between sessions together following the initial consultation.

  • Location: In person - South Croydon, London.

Reiki is also just as effective as a distance treatment and can be offered to you remotely where you can be in the comfort of your own home or anywhere in the world and receive a full treatment. You will need to be in a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. We will then go through feedback and recommendations on Zoom.

  • Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. You will remain fully clothed throughout the treatment, lying on a therapy couch. Loose, comfortable clothing works well — avoid anything too tight or restrictive. You may want to remove your shoes and any jewellery, though this is entirely your choice.

  • Experiences vary from person to person and session to session. Many people describe a sensation of warmth, gentle tingling, or a feeling of being held. Others experience a deep sense of calm, spontaneous imagery, or emotional release. Some simply feel very still and present. There is no single correct experience — Reiki works at the level that is most needed in that moment, which may not always be the level you consciously expect.

  • Yes — Reiki is a complementary practice, not an alternative to medical or psychological care. It works particularly well alongside psychotherapy, as the body often holds what the mind has not yet been able to process. Many of my clients engage in both therapy and Reiki with me, finding that the two approaches deepen each other's effects.

Reiki is also safe to receive alongside medical treatment, including cancer care, where it is increasingly offered within NHS settings as a supportive intervention for managing pain, fatigue, and anxiety.

  • In-person sessions take place on a therapy couch in South Croydon, London, with hands placed above or gently on key energy centres. Remote sessions are equally effective — energy is not bound by physical proximity, and many clients report experiences during distance treatments that are indistinguishable from those in the room. For remote sessions, you will need to be in a quiet, comfortable position at home. We connect via Zoom before and after the treatment for preparation and feedback.
